Background to the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Active Travel Project Officer to join our ‘Active Routes to Schools’ project: promoting active travel among school-age young people in Oban and surrounds. This role will involve working closely with schools, parents, local authorities, and community groups to develop and implement strategies that encourage children and teenagers to travel to school by foot, bike, or other non-motorised means. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, a creative problem solver, and have a commitment to environmental sustainability and public health.
This role will be supported by the Adventure Oban and Atlantis Leisure ‘Out and About’ project workers and the Adventure Oban board. Opportunities for training and professional development will be funded and encouraged as part of the role. Home working and access to your own laptop/computer is essential. Role will be a combination of desk-based work and community and school outreach.
The Active Routes to Schools project is funded by an ongoing Service Level Agreement with HiTRANS.
