Welcome to One Million Miles: an Adventure Oban exercise initiative for all.
As a community, we’re combining our activity towards a shared total mileage.
Check our progress so far:

As a community, we’re getting up, getting active and clocking up One Million Miles of activity together. It’s a simple yet powerful way for us to feel together whilst getting after our individual adventures!

Regardless of age, fitness or ability level, anyone can get involved with ‘One Million Miles’. Whether you’re a runner, walker, swimmer, climber, kite-surfer or whatever else! - you can donate your activity’s ‘miles’ to the accumulator.

How does it work?
1. Get outside and get active - track how many full miles you did in your session, feel free to round to a whole number (no tech or fancy watches required, estimates are cool).
2. After each activity session that you choose to do in aid of One Million Miles, simply enter your details in the form here including the number of miles you clocked up and click Record.
3. Refresh the page and see your miles reflected in the Totaliser above.
4. Tell your pals! - use #AdventureOban and #OneMillionMiles

Leaderboard
One Million Miles is all about making sure everybody is included as part of a community chasing a shared goal. For the folks that like a bit of competition though, we’ll be updating this Leaderboard section at the end of every quarter.

Keep an eye out as we unveil the first leaderboard of 1MM in 2024 - coming soon!

Why One Million Miles?
Exercise and being outside are vital natural medicines for keeping our minds healthy. Our community has always been active one, taking advantage of the beautiful part of the world we live in. With ‘One Million Miles’, we want to encourage that and use it to create something special that brings us all together.

‘One Million Miles’ works very simply: everyone continues with their various pursuits, tracking how many miles each session clocks up (don’t worry, you don’t need any fancy tech or sports watches, estimates are just fine). After each session, enter your session total on the form above and refresh the page to watch your contribution raise the Totaliser closer towards One Million.

Know the Code Before You Go

We can make a big difference by making sure One Million Miles interacts with our environment responsibly. Use the link below to find some useful tips from the Scottish Outdoor Access Code - they have some great advice for how we can look after our natural environment when we’re out and about. Remember depending on different times of the year there are different ways we can help farmers and landowners. Local knowledge is really helpful too, things might work slightly differently depending where you are - particularly if you’re visiting somewhere new. So ask around, locals will appreciate it.

Adventures of Miltean

Meet Miltean: the One Million Miles Adventure Bear and Adventure Oban mascot! Miltean whose name means ‘Miles’ in Gaelic, was very kindly donated to Adventure Oban by the Oban Harris Tweed Shop. As part of his One Million Miles contribution, Miltean gets taken out on a range of different adventures - collecting pictures with his Adventurer buddy for the day as he goes.
Check out some of the pics of what Miltean has got up to below and if you’d like to take Miltean on an adventure just get in touch.
We’ll also use this section as a general Gallery for all your One Million Miles snaps - send in anything you’d like included to hello@adventureoban.org, tag @adventureoban on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram or use the hashtags #adventureoban and #onemillionmiles.
